[ An odd word choice. Past tense. As if they're no longer friends. Strange, unless he expected never to see them again now that he's stuck here but that still wouldn't really make sense. Newcomers never know for sure how long they're going to be stuck here after all. Arisato is difficult to read, that's an easy conclusion to come to so far but there seems to be air of sadness about him (perhaps resignation even?) at those words too.

And the fact that he know Shiomi until he arrived here... odder still. Class 2-F wasn't huge. It's possible they just simply never interacted but it seemed impossible that they would never have exchanged a single word to one another in that time.

Mitsuru frowns, thoughtful. She'd been here long enough, met enough people here to realise that timelines and worlds can more than just a little jumbled, that it's possible to meet someone from the same universe as you but from a completely different year. Yu for example...

But this- this seems different. ]

Tell me, Arisato Minato. Is it entirely possible that you know me just a little better than you previously implied? And how is it that you've only just met someone like Shiomi?

[ Because she knows that girl can pretty much befriend anyone. The chances of her not having spoken to this boy at any point during the school year, even just to say a good morning... yeah, she doesn't buy it. It's clear she doesn't mean to sound as... well, interrogating as she's coming across. That's sort of just... her. ]

[ This is starting to feel more and more like an interrogation... But fair's fair. Mitsuru's entitled to the answers to her questions, and Minato's well aware that she's just being herself. ]

Something like that.

[ Not a lie. Minato doesn't actually know how much this version of Mitsuru shared with his own Kirijo-senpai. Even if details of this Mitsuru's life diverged from the one he'd known, she probably still wouldn't let him get away with skirting around and giving half-answers. ]

I think... I might be from a time where Shiomi Kotone never existed. You're from a time where Arisato Minato never existed.

[ His gaze lowers for a moment as he considers how to best pose his next statement. ]

And -- I think you know, Kirijo-senpai, that things like space and time manipulation are real.

[ Oh yes, she knows that. That knowledge still doesn't stop this realisation being one of the more bizarre and troubling things she's had to comprehend. How can this be possible? Previous experience tells her that it definitely is, if this boy is telling the truth. But she can't see any reason to lie about something like this in a place like this...

Plus, she can't quite put a finger on it but there is that niggling sense of familiarity still. Hand in hand with that is the feeling that she can trust this person - which makes far more sense if he and Shiomi are... somehow connected? Interchangeable even? If the latter is the case, that would make him her field leader... Had another Kirijo Mitsuru had put her faith and trust in him to do what is necessary? The thought makes her feel strange, it's surreal to think about. ]

That's it- that familiar feeling, you remind me of her. [ Which, on the face of it had made no sense. They bear no resemblance to each other but there it is. ]

So then, where you're from, your version of our world, did I- [ Correction, they're the same but not so: ] Did Kirijo Mitsuru give you an important role? [ A way of covering a few bases - did he and Shiomi follow the same path? Did they share the potential and the ability to summon more than one Persona? And did she appoint him leader of SEES? ]

[ He doesn't respond to Mitsuru, or at the very least, not immediately. Instead, Minato turns from her to accept two cups of herbal tea from the beverage bar. There are a couple stools nearby; Minato wanders off with both cups in hand, setting them on the bar before hopping onto one of the stools. ]

She did.

[ Not that he had much choice. Even with scant combat experience, a wild card's ability to carry and swap between several Personas made them the most versatile Persona-user, able to slot themselves into any necessary role.

He glances over his shoulder at Mitsuru. ]

Field leader.

[ Minato nudges the second cup of coffee a little to the side, allowing it to align with the stool next to him. It's an open invitation, anticipating that Mitsuru likely has further questions. ]

[ He's so... different to Shiomi. She'd already noted that a dozen or so times already but as she observes him, trying (but probably failing) not to look like someone watching an alien yet familiar creature they've only just discovered, the differences only become more apparent. He's in no hurry to respond for one thing and the way he just wanders off, both teas in hand towards the stools without a word and expects her to follow, plus the silent invitation... what an odd boy. She can't help but wonder how he and this other Mitsuru interacted.

She definitely made him field leader then at least.

Mitsuru takes a seat on the vacant stool beside him because yes, she definitely has more questions. ]

The same then. It seems both of your paths are mirrored in that regard although I wonder how closely. [ If these two are switched then... ]

Are all the other members of SEES the same where you're from? Or are there other differences?

[ Perhaps that curiosity would remain a mystery to Mitsuru. After all, even if his own Empress was somewhere far from these walls, that's not his story to tell. But as he's joined at the bar, Minato offers his company a small shrug. ]

I don't know.

[ He takes a sip of his tea with a pensive expression. Only Aigis, Junpei, and Yukari came up in his conversation with Kotone. The cup is lowered to its saucer once more as Minato gazes down at his reflection. He'll list each member of SEES for her though, but Shinjiro is, at first, missing from his list.

He frowns upon realizing this. ]

...Aragaki-senpai, he was there too, but --

[ Ah, what if he's accidentally stirred up a painful memory for Mitsuru? ]
