[ She smiles, one of those rare ones of hers that are actually warm and reach her eyes. Those seem to be becoming less of a rarity when she's around him... ] As if I could refuse such an invitation.

[ You know, the dorky card with "do me the honour". Right up her street. Anyway, she's also kind of relieved that she guessed that whatever he has planned warrants a casual dress code. She'd been quietly over thinking it all afternoon in that way only someone like Mitsuru can.

She's also overthinking whether she should kiss him as a greeting...? In public, that conveys something. It might be too much! So she opts not to for now. ]

You have me intrigued as to what you have planned.

[Intrigued, she says...and Yu wonders for a moment, has he made this seem bigger than it should be? (Hm. Maybe he is a little nervous. It's uncharacteristic, but she brings out that side in him more than he'd like to admit.)]

I didn't want to miss an occasion like this, [he says lightly, offering her an arm to take. Just to keep up with the dorky gestures, I guess.

Luckily, their destination isn't too far, so he'll be able to dispel the mystery shortly.]

[ She takes that arm, already wracking her brains as to exactly what he has planned. Part of her thinks he might assume she'd want something fancy... But they're not really near anywhere like that right now so colour her even more curious as she starts to walk with him. ]

[ Because you know, he hasn't actually mentioned her birthday yet and they might as well keep up the dumb, flirty pretense for a bit longer here. ]

Hmm? [Yu follows her lead, playing dumb, so to speak, about his own intentions.] I thought it was something good ..maybe I was wrong.

[... He doesn't buy their own act for a second, though. They arrive at the arcade shortly thereafter, with its games aglow and peppy music on full display. Here is where he stops, and while he tries hard to channel his best confidence, a bare hint of nerves shine through his smile, just for a second.

Still. He leans in close, giving her cheek a soft, small kiss before he whispers:] Happy birthday, Mitsuru.

p It's funny how something as simple as a kiss on the cheek from him in public is enough to have her flushing so red momentarily. Enough to match her hair even. ] Thank you. [ Compose yourself, Mitsuru.

Fortunately everything in front of them both right now is a good distraction, while Mitsuru looks equal parts fascinated and bewildered. ]

So this is an arcade... [ Said like someone who has absolutely never set foot in one before. Probably. ]

Is there a customary order in which we should try the amusements? Clockwise around the room until we're back at the entrance perhaps?

[ Yeah... She really has never done this before. ] Or is it expected that we have refreshments first? [ She says this while glancing in the direction of some kind of candy/confectionery stand in the corner, selling candy floss and other quick sugar fixes and some kind of drinks that look like they might glow in the dark. ]

[The color in her face, the way she looks around the arcade -- it takes extraordinarily little for affection to swell in his chest, but somehow his expression still manages to brighten after that. Of course she's come to an arcade --for the first time?-- and she's setting about it with diligence and strategy. Yu might have felt before that his idea was tenuous, but now he's sure he's made the right choice.]

Usually people pick the games that look fun for them. You don't have to play them all.

[Ah, but she makes a good point about the refreshments.] I think they'll let us take drinks with us, so maybe that first?
