It depends.

Parties are a very traditional way of celebrating a birthday, yes. However, they're not everybody's preference.

Really it's about celebrating the day in a way that you enjoy the most. Perhaps by doing something you particularly enjoy, going somewhere you love or spending time with people you care about.

My experience is not the norm but I believe people usually have quite a lot of choice in the matter of how they celebrate it.

It was a little... unusual. I haven't exactly looked forward to my birthdays recently though and it was still fun all things considered.

Besides, my friends organised it for me and for that I am grateful.

If you wanted to do something for your birthday, what would you do though?

I tend to prefer things a little quieter I think.

I think I would want to do things that I haven't had a lot of time for previously. Perhaps I would go see a movie, buy some books, have a meal somewhere... Not somewhere expensive though, I'd want to try something different.

I don't think I've ever seen a movie before ... not like the ones here! Is it nice?

Usually, yes. Sometimes the plot lines are rather silly but I suppose that is part of the fun.

Why not come see one with me then?

I've only seen a few, and I didn't really like them at all! Too much fighting ... :-(

It sounds as though you should just try watching a different genre, not everyone enjoys combat as the focus of the story.

Yes. There are just as many genres for movies as there are for books.

So we could definitely find something you enjoy more.
